The BSG is currently working to enhance and energise its Fellowship to better reflect the diversity of today’s geomorphological community. Fellows of the BSG are members of the Society who have made significant contributions to the advancement of geomorphology through, for example, refereed research publications, professional practice which has produced influential reports and recommendations, influential pedagogic advances in learning and teaching, and service to the activities of the BSG. We hope to increase the number of Fellowships made over the next 8 years, by electing 5-8 Fellows per year over in order to ensure a diverse, representative, fair and active Fellowship.

The Fellowships scheme was established in 2013, led by the first President of the BSG, Professor Ken Gregory. Initially all Linton award winners and all former chairs of the BSG/BGRG were contacted and invited to become Inaugural Fellows of the BSG. The list of fellows can be found below.

We now encourage any members of the BSG to suggest people who should be awarded Fellowships. Please contact the current President (Professor Heather Viles, heather.viles@ouce.ox.ac.uk) if you would like suggest BSG members who you believe should be awarded Fellowships. Once names have been suggested the formal process of nomination of a BSG member for election as a Fellow of the BSG as described in the Society’s constitution can begin. This involves an existing Fellow nominating the person with the support of at least 2 other Fellows who should not be in the same Institution as the nominated member. All nominees are considered for election by a panel of 7 Fellows, and awards made at the Annual Meeting.
